Hookah is said to be a new way of smoking. It uses tobaccos called shishas which has more flavor and taste as compared to ordinary cigars. Hookah smoking started from way back in places in the Middle East then quickly spread out in Western countries. And now, it is well known and used in some parts of the United States. whether you are smoking ordinary cigar or hookah, there will always be bad effects to one’s health. as they say, these tobaccos contain harmful elements to the body. It also has nicotine which is the addictive factor in these cigars. Experts say that there can be several health problems associated with smoking which includes cancer and gum diseases.

However, people consider hookah or cigar smoking as part of a social activity. as people get hooked with smoking hookah, it is slowly becoming an addiction and lifestyle. It may be very difficult to stop from smoking hookah. though not yet proven, some say that smoking hookah has lesser health risks involved since the smoke is filtered in the pipe which takes away all the toxins from the tobacco. so, all you get from smoking hookah is the flavor coming from the shisha. However, there is no confirmation to this claim, but if true, and then smoking hookah is definitely a lot better than tobaccos or cigar.

The craze in using hookah for smoking is definitely on the rise. It has actually become part of a social mentality among smokers. All types of smoking can be dangerous to one’s health however; people say that hookah smoking is less toxic. whether proven or not, people who have tried using hookah can definitely attest if there is an effect to their health or not.

It may be safe to say that hookah smoking should only be for socialization but not taken as part of one’s lifestyle. a seldom use of hookah may be better than having it every day. as they say, everything that is taken more to what it limits is bad. It may also be advised that smokers whether hookah or cigar should have their filters attached to the hose or cigar to filter out the toxins coming from it. This is a better way to smoke and at least be safe. And everything should be taken in moderation.

Smoking hookahs has now been popular in many places in the United States. in fact, there are establishments specifically created for hookah smokers. This means that people see the potential profits from this product. there is what they call hookah bars and lounges which sell and even offer hookah rentals. This is the reason why hookah has quickly become popular especially to the young people who are adventurous when it comes to their socializing activities.

As more and more people become hooked with hookah, there should be study as to what extent its health effects are to humans. This is important to know by those who are already addicted to this modern smoking method.

The next time you go to Sharm El Sheik in Egypt get down to Naama Bay and try the Shisha cafe’s the entertainment is fantastic and a right good crack as you can see. The shisha pipe is none adictive and you don’t get a high from it as long as you stick to the fruity ones don’t go for the tabbaco it’s like having 50 in one go. I had a go the apple was not bad I havn’t smoked a cig in 5 years and still don’t. The Shisha bars are up by the taxi rank just off the main road. I had the pleasure of going to the Karma Cigar & Hookah Lounge in Manchester last nite. As a reformed smoker than can no longer stand the smell of it, I had been skeptical about venturing inside. but as a credit to last month’s Taste of Manchester event, I popped in for the first time since Karma opened on Elm Street and was pleasantly surprised at how cute it was, and that it didn’t wreak thanks to their ventilation system. Having a scratchy throat at the time, I didn’t try the sample hookah they were offering, but after a couple cocktails last nite, hookah-ing sounded like a GREAT idea. I excitedly followed the bartender to the back room to smell the various flavors of tobacco on the menu. I settled on “mojito” since it had both mint and lime undertones, but I could’ve chosen a variety of fruits, chocolate, or coffee.

The hookah itself was amazingly smooth; the smoke did not tear up my throat like cigarettes used to. And it was genuinely fun to smoke again, especially since I loved it so much when I was actually a smoker over twelve years ago. the mojito flavor was refreshing but the hookah diluted it so much, I think I will try mint next time, which I thought might be too strong when I sampled it in my smell test.

The only negative was that the bartender didn’t know how to make the drink I ordered directly from their cocktail menu, but did manage to concoct a satisfactory substitute. he was also struggling to make drinks and prep hookahs, so I hope they have more staff on the weekends. And Karma doesn’t seem to have a website, which I think is holding them back.

Overall, this is the perfect place to end an evening. Sharing a hookah is a fun social activity, whether with a date or a group of friends.

Karma Cigar & Hookah Lounge – Manchester, NH

In less than three months, the entire state of Kansas goes smoke-free in all bars, restaurants, and workplaces. Now, some Kansas business owners are helping organize an effort to oppose the comprehensive ban. The opposition group is called “Kansas Right to choose.” The group is hoping lawmakers will pass a bill to allow some businesses to allow smoking. but comprehensive smoking ban advocates say that’s not a good idea.

“I was very disappointed when I realized our own state came up with a total smoking ban,” said Heat Cigar and Hookah Lounge Owner Ali Issa.

Issa says he should have the right to choose whether smoking is allowed in his business.

“The right to choose, this is what this country is built on,” said Issa.

He says losing that choice will cause him to lose business.

“There’s no doubt, we’ll lose a lot of business, and I know a lot of other businesses in Wichita and around the state will literally close down,” said Issa.

But supporters of the ban say it will bring more non-smokers into businesses that currently allow smoking.

“It’s not something to be afraid of, it’s something to welcome because it will help business,” said American Lung Association Development Director Diane Tinker.

Advocates also say smoking laws are no different than food safety, or water quality mandates.

“It will protect the health of everyone who patronizes businesses, and everyone who works at a business, so that they won’t be concerned about the air that they breathe,” said Tinker.

Members of Kansas Right to choose say they do support some sort of smoking ban, just not a complete, comprehensive one.

“The smoking ban is a must, we understand that,” said Issa. “We were able in Wichita to find a way to make everyone happy.”

The Wichita ordinance allows some businesses to allow smoking, with certain restrictions. but the American Lung Association says a ban needs to be comprehensive to be effective.

“You can’t really fault these studies showing that the heart attack, and number of lung disease issues, those significantly drop when a comprehensive ordinance goes into place,” said Tinker.

“There is a chance to make everyone happy, there is a chance to have a smoking bill where it protects non-smokers and it keeps businesses open,” said Issa.

22 states including Kansas have passed a comprehensive smoking ban. Supporters say it will save lives, but opponents say a ban won’t make people quit smoking. Kansas Right to choose is holding a public meeting at the Hereford House in Andover Saturday to discuss the issue. Organizers say people from across the state will be attending.

Group Forming To Oppose State-Wide Smoking Ban

Holy smoke! Hookahs are hot. those ancient Middle Eastern water pipes are popping up in South Florida restaurants from Delray Beach to Miami. Featuring fruit-flavored tobacco, the ornate pipes are presented with pomp and ceremony after a meal. Sometimes for a price, of course. Go figure. At a time when voters are considering a change in the state constitution to ban smoking at most indoor workplaces, including restaurants, we continue to drift from one smoking trend to another. First the cigar frenzy, then the Indian bidi and now the hookah.

Hookah smoking has been a part of history for approximately 400 years. Typically, those who engage in this social activity do so in a hookah bar or caf. In recent years the hookah lounge has made appearances in the United States and Canada. they are very popular among college and university students in the U.S. Even more recently there has been a swell of use most notably among teenagers.

The Buddha may not have wanted to be thought of as “funky.” but even he would be hard pressed to find a more serene, relaxing alternative to beer-chugging contests, velvet ropes or scowling bouncers. on a Friday night, Boca Raton’s Funky Buddha Lounge is full but not jam-packed with young, well-dressed patrons grouped around tables, taking hits from the tendrils of ornate hookahs. the smell is a clash of fruit, incense, Middle Eastern food and various unidentifiable tobacco flavors. Comfortable cushions line the walls, and the feel is laid-back with a touch of maharaja.

What is a Hookah?A hookah (or hooka) is a water pipe. These have been used for centuries in Asia and the Middle East to smoke tobacco. the main fuel of this growing trend is found to be among teens and young adults.

A hookah consists of four parts:

a smoke chamber, or base which is partially filled with water a bowl that contains tobacco and the heating source a pipe that connects the bowl to the base and dips into the water in the base a hose (second tube) in the pipe that does not dip into the water but opens up into the air in the base allowing the user to inhale the smokeWhen a smoker inhales through the tube, a pressure difference forces air past the heating source, heating tobacco; therefore, it gives off smoke. the smoke is pulled away from the tobacco and passes through the water into the smoke chamber. Then it is inhaled.

Shisha or SheeshaShisha is flavored hookah tobacco. there is a myriad of available flavors including licorice, a wide selection of fruit flavors, mint, rose, herbals, spices, molasses and even cola flavor.
